HYC


I’m chez mes parents after a too long car trip… Me+Car=No Fun.  I just can’t stay awake because if I do I get antsy and bored.  Even five books and two iPods could not keep me entertained.  So I slept, a lot.  Oh well!

Before we left, I had breakfast. I was craving fruit+cereal but couldn’t find any berries or bananas so I just stuck with the cereal.

Go Lean Crunch+Honey Bunches of Oats Almond+Vanilla Rice Milk.  Man that rice milk was ssssssweet!  It tasted like dessert so you know I loved it!

On the road, we stopped at an outlet mall which was fun.  I wanted a lot but only got a thermometer for my oven so I can verify the temp in there for baking!  Oh and lunch.

Veggie Delite footlong shared with Mom- lettuce, tomato, olives, green peppers, cucumbers+mayo for me (can’t find the picture!).

In the car I had a bunch of Sunchips. Mmm.

I also tried this Kashi bar for the first time.  I always wanted to try these but never bought the box.  I’m glad I didn’t.  Blackberries are my fave and this did not taste like blackberries.  It was good, but just not what I expected.

Once home, I had a waffle and some chicken breast tenderloins because they were fast and I was hungry.  I just now realized that I had chiken’n’waffles haha… another set of pics that mysterious disappeared :angry:

This morning I had a doctor’s appointment, so I made a quick breakfast beforehand.

I had a pretty bitter cup of coffee on the side.  Blech.  I added almond milk+ovaltine but it was still kind of gross.  I drank it anyway though!

After, being poked and prodded by my ENT, my brother and I stopped at this pizza place in our old hood.

They remembered us! Is that bad or good? It has been like two years since we’ve been there.

Cheesy+New York-y=the reason why I should never eat pizza anywhere else in the world but NYS!

We also stopped at Niagara County Produce.

My fave part of my parents move to the country!  All this produce for 11 dollars and most (if not all of it) is local!  I thought I was getting close to my limit or I would have spent more.  Oh well, it’s super close which means multiple trips there anyway!

When I got home I had what I think will be my last slice of cake.  It was very thin but I think I’m finally ‘caked out.’ Well unless those strawberries jump on a slice for me!

HYC: Hey y’all I just moved from one BMI category to another (healthier) one!  I’m very excited and can’t wait for the next milestone.  Even with some indulgences (okay many) I’ve still manged to keep everything else in check, fill up on veggies and go for smaller portions to accomodate my love for all things baked! Yay!

Wowza, this lady’s tired but naps mean waking up in the middle of the night so I’ve forced myself to stay away (podcasts, blog reading, a hot bath, dishes, and lounging).  I plan to head off to sleep very soon!!!

This morning, as I was typing my last post, I had a yummy apple.

It was quite the apple.  In case you hadn’t noticed, Granny Smith apples are my absolute favorite.  Crisp, tart with just a hint of sweetness.  *sigh* It was a good way to start the day!

Then I kind of dozed for a bit and ended up grabbing what I could for lunch, and bought breakfast from the school cafe. No pic though.  French toast sticks, they were yummy, but not exactly what I needed to fuel my sleep-deprived self.  I should have stopped for coffee on the way to school!

I did manage to pack a lunch even though it was a bunch of ‘convenience’ foods.

A Lean Pocket and a Kashi Bar (skipped the apple for some reason).  It was ‘meh’ but energized me enough to get some packing done for a bit.

I did stop to have some cereal as a snack because I needed even more fuel.  (I was cr-cr-crashing!).

I was lucky enough to a ride from my colleague again, man it’s making this whole owning a car look more and more appealing.  I mean I love the freedom of the metro… but getting home at 4:10 over 5:10 is sooooo nice.  Then I did my ‘stay awake’ activities, although they should have been less lounge more clean… and couldn’t think of anything to have for dinner.

I saw these in the freezer and wanted that cream cheese soooo badly, that I grabbed on and popped it in the toaster while I did dishes.  Fab as usual.  Not the world’s healthiest item, but one of the most convenient, delicious foods out there 🙂

I’m still hungry though… but I’m also lazy so I may or may not eat something else before bed.  I’ll update if I do.

Edit: Ooops, I forgot HYC… things are good… Journaled all last week, didn’t eat perfectly but was totally accountable which really a big thing for me since I used to be a ‘sneak-er.’  Other than that still fighting with my scale, but bike rides and runs and all the fun meal ideas in my head are helping!

Wow, I’m exhausted today, the hours of walking and field day stuff already had me tired, then I went on a bike ride (at the gym) for about 45 minutes and did about 18 miles.  Now, my body is just tired.  I couldn’t get myself out of bed this morning.  Thankfully, I had a fast breakfast idea and my lunch was already packed!

I weighed in yesterday and I’m still working my way downward but it’s slow… but that’s all on me because I’ve been really slacking on exercising.  I have all the best intentions, but frankly, that’s not enough.  I need to start putting this stuff into action! As usual, I’m working on it and I can only improve, plus I mean I’ve lost 35 lbs since changing my lifestyle without resorting to disordered habits.  I’m going to work on being proud of that, and reminding myself that as great as this feeling is, reaching my goal will be even better!

Back to the food… I wanted to try to get up earlier and get in a longer yoga session but my body was not happy with the 5:10 alarm, especially since I couldn’t fall asleep till close to 1AM.  So, I reset for an extra hour and then made a grab and go kind of breakfast.

Morningstar veggie sausage patty, wholegrain waffle and banana.  I had the waffle and ‘sausage’ as I walked to the bus stop, and the banana once I got to work.  It was good but I got really thirsty and forgot my water bottle.  The machine was sold out on waters so I settled for this.

OJ is my favorite.  I sipped on it all day and it was such a treat, since I never buy it.

I can’t tell you how close I was to forgetting my lunch at home.  Thankfully, I remembered right as I was walking out the door to grab it.

Deli ham wrap, apple and SF lime jello. Lime jello is my favorite, and while I’m not a huge fan of all the junk in jello I was really craving this for some reason.  I didn’t eat the apple, I’ll eat it for a snack later, maybe.  Instead, I had half a cookie.

I really just can’t get enough of these because the cookie is a bit crunchy but the chocolate chips are always soooooo melty.  Oh well.  I need to just go cold turkey off of them, or start making my own healthier baked good to enjoy… I smell Veggie Girl blondies in the near future!

I made the wrap using a Mission WW Tortilla Plus.  They’re very light, 110 kcal, have lots of vitamins (and too many ingredients) but they’re tasty, pliable and passable nutritionally.  They’re also a really good deal and my local store doesn’t carry healthier things like Flat Outs or Ezekiel Wraps, so they’re a great option for those on a budget or without ‘healthy’ supermarkets nearby.

My lead teacher and I always walk to the bus stop together in the afternoons and she was picking up dinner today and had a coupon so I grabbed some dinner too.

Um, there was a lot more food but I pared it down… It was so tasty since the chicken had a little spicy kick to it, and I’ve been wanting coleslaw for awhile.  I did go back for some more coleslaw after this.  Then I spilled diet coke all over my white carpet.  Thankfully, I was able to mop it up right away and got it before it stained but I was still upset.

I really enjoyed my bike ride last night so I’m considering another one, but I may just pop in some DVD and go with that, although biking means I can read chapters, so who really knows.

Oh and I forgot my cell at school 😦  I feel like my left arm (okay, my right) is missing.  At least it’ll force me to go to bed early and not talk/text until much too late.

I lost about 1.4 lbs!!!  I say about because I can’t remember my exact weight from last week because I never recorded it so that’s for 2 weeks.

Last week was up and down.  I had some great moments like my Pentagon tour and a really fabulous workout on Sunday night.  I also had some not so great moments like a day in the hospital and being swamped with school work.  I definitely let those things deter me from working out but I wasn’t nearly as energetic and I was loving all the changes I was seeing daily in my body the weeks before… so I made a 10 week training schedule.  It’s very exciting and includes 5k training (I’m running one for the Firefighters and Police Officers of 9/11 in Arlington, VA later this summer with both my parents… our first 5k and our first major fitness adventure together… too bad my brother won’t join us 😦 ).  I also meal planned for the week but then decided to start it today instead of Sunday or Monday.  I’m just rebellious like that.  I am pretty excited about my meals and I’ve even planned breakfasts and lunches so they can be prepped and/or prepared in advance so I can sleep a few extra minutes in the morning.

I really want to get up in the morning and do 20-25 minutes of yoga, but I have a really hard time getting up because I have an even harder time falling asleep.  I’m not sure why that is, but it could just be that my body is so used to my late nights that anytime before 12:30/1:00 am it won’t let me sleep.  So, I’m slowly trying to get myself into “sleep” mode early so my body can adjust.

Warning: My camera died so there are no pics today 😦 (now, stop crying… it’ll be alright the batteries are charging for tomorrow :mrgreen:)

I had a repeat breakfast today… I really want to get into oats made with water but I miss the creamyness of my oats made with milk (nondairy) but today I added a little more sweetner (honey because I could throw the container in my bag for my on the go breakfast) so my Maple Nut Oats were much better than yesterday’s batch.  Still, it’s amazing what a difference a little milk (any variety) makes.  I guess I’ll just have to add a splash or two in there to save calories but retain flavor.

Lunch was pretty simple, and I thought I would be hungry a few hours later… but my yogurt and granola with an apple cinnamon muffin (from the school cafe.) were outstanding.  Well, the muffin was just good.  I’m not sure why those muffins always tempt me, but for some reason they’re just the perfect density- some muffins are so heavy and others are too cake like, these are just right (hello Goldilocks!).

I went to Target after school and got some (on sale) Morningstar and Lean Pockets (I love them too much).  Then I promptly fell asleep from 5:30 to 10:30p.  Oops! When I woke up I considered making my planned dinner but it’s much to hot for all of that (80something + running on reserve Montgomery County water due to a break in the system mean no AC for the building today… oh well).  Instead I heated up some Morningstar Buffalo Wings which were so spicy and delicious.  The texture is not like chicken but it’s not unpleasant and I love how they have all the spicy flavor of Buffalo wings without all the mess.  Yum!  I was still hungry afterward so I had a LC Spinach Artichoke Chicken.  It was way too good but now I’m full.

Since I slept away my afternoon, this is another day off of exercise, which is fine because I’ll just make up for it Friday and Saturday where I don’t have much planned.

Now, I’m off to start a paper (only two more papers, two exams, and a short test, and one assignment away from the end of the semester!) and then I’m off to bed!

Hey Y’all… I’m excited to be part of HYC (again)… I used to be part of it when I had an anon-ish blog back in the day… I know it’s such a good group of bloggers striving for a healthier self… loves it.

Anyway, in terms of a check- last week I exercised every day except for Tuesday (because it was my birthday mostly)… Honestly, it’s a big deal for me because it is really easy for me to toss aside exercise because on my “to do list” school, work and food come first.

Food wise, I was a bit (or more than a bit) of a mess. I had a hard time focusing but I feel like that was more of a circumstance issue since I was going out a lot and doing friend things since it was Spring Break.

Regardless, I managed to lose 1.6 pounds which is right about where I want to be on a weekly basis anyway 🙂

Yay for Week 13 totally breaking that unlucky number barrier!
